  • Frank Modesto

    Founder & Managing Director

    Frank is a leading expert in strategic vendor negotiations and expense management which drives maximum cost savings for SES clients. Frank has over 30 years of operating and advisory experience, with a particular focus in payments and outsourced processing systems. Since founding SES in 2010, Frank has advised both domestic and international financial institution clients on strategic vendor negotiations. Frank provides strategic direction for SES, leads business development efforts, and oversees client engagements.

    Wells Fargo. Prior to founding SES, Frank was Senior Vice President of Strategic Sourcing at Wells Fargo. His team led strategic sourcing across all Wells Fargo lines of business and generated over $1B in contract expense savings during the integration of Wells Fargo and Wachovia.

    JP Morgan Chase. Before joining Wells Fargo, Frank was SVP and Head of Expense Management in Finance at Chase Card Services. His team of 35 finance professionals was responsible for the $5 billion operating budget including forecasting, planning, and all discretionary spending. Previously, Frank was Head of IT Finance & Vendor Management with responsibility for payment networks and outsourced processing.

  • Dan Miller

    Senior Director

    Dan advises SES clients on evaluating, structuring, and negotiating strategic vendor agreements. Dan has over 20 years of operating and advisory experience, with a particular focus on the payments segment including card branding, card acquiring, outsourced processing, and core banking / money movement. Dan supports SES client engagements through each phase of strategic negotiations: (i) due diligence / planning; (ii) strategy development; and (iii) strategy execution.

    Wells Fargo. Prior to SES, Dan was VP of Strategic Sourcing at Wells Fargo. His team of five Business Managers led strategic sourcing activity for Wells Fargo within the following spend categories: payment networks, card processing, core banking, securities processing, and market data.

    JP Morgan Chase. Prior to Wells Fargo, Dan was a VP in Finance at JP Morgan Chase with responsibility for the bank's payment network and card processing relationships.

    Bank of America / MBNA. Earlier in his career, Dan spent 8 years with Bank of America / MBNA.

    Education. MBA Loyola University, BS Grove City College.

  • Michelle Shepherd

    Senior Advisor

    Michelle is a recognized industry leader in financial services and provides integral guidance to the SES team on payment network strategy, negotiations, and business development.

    Bank of America. Michelle retired from Bank of America in 2008 as the company's East Division Executive. In this role, she managed 2,400 bank branches holding $130 billion in deposits, staffed by 25,000 associates in key markets such as Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta, and Miami. She served as the company's Senior Privacy Executive while serving on the company’s Management Operating Committee and Global Diversity & Inclusion Council.

    MBNA. Prior to Bank of America, Michelle spent 20 years with MBNA. She was Group Executive and member of MBNA's Executive Committee, overseeing sales, marketing, and group administration for the U.S. credit card business. She has also been responsible for the company's direct mail, media marketing, and event marketing channels, the in-house ad agency, and the payment network relationships.

  • Henry Fulton

    Senior Advisor

    Henry is an experienced financial services executive who most recently led PNC’s $61B retail bank. His insights provide the SES team with valuable perspective on the payments industry and business development strategy.

    PNC. Henry was Executive Vice President of PNC’s $61B retail lending business, which included home equity, dealer finance, small business, credit card, and education lending. In this role, he managed the full end-to-end spectrum of the retail lending businesses including multi-year growth plans and capability roadmaps.

    Bank of America. Prior to PNC, Henry spent 16 years with Bank of America. He was the Retail Banking Strategy Executive, overseeing business strategy for the bank’s $15.4B mass-market consumer segment. Prior to this role, Henry had executive roles in Bank of America’s mortgage business including underwriting and fulfillment. Prior to mortgage, Henry led Bank of America’s $142B US credit card business and served as Transition Executive following the MBNA acquisition.

    Citibank. Prior to Bank of America, Henry spent 11 years with Citibank.

    Education. BS University of Denver.
